Results: Nothing 141 VS Rookie 101 Amari Cooper drops 45 points in leading Here Goes Nothing to victory The Rookie finished the regular season #1. Unfortunately, that didn't count for much this week. They didn't even sniff the winner's podium, losing to Here Goes Nothing 142 to 101. The loss drops The Rookie's record to 10 – 6, while the win brings Here Goes Nothing to 10 – 5. It's not that hard to win when you have the league's top performer for the week, and Amari Cooper was that player. Cooper made it rain for Here Goes Nothing, recording 45 points. He is on quite a hot streak, performing better than any other starter over the last three weeks. Massive plays like this allowed him to post 265 yards on Sunday, a Browns franchise record. The Rookie are bound to have a hard time winning when Brock Purdy has a bad week, and that's just what happened. The Rookie had many underperformers, but Purdy stood out, delivering only 2 points. His momentum from last week's 45 point performance apparently didn't carry over. His performances have closely tracked the fortunes of The Rookie this season, as they have gone 1 – 3 when he fails to meet his expectations, and 6 – 1 when he meets them. On the coaching front, one coach's brilliance, and another's ineptitude, were demonstrated this week. Coach Sam Zarr did not play all of their cards right on the lineup front this week. They started Tyler Bass instead of Younghoe Koo, despite the experts' prediction that Koo should have played. This decision cost The Rookie a total of 13 points, which ultimately didn't make a difference in the final outcome. Coach Zarr's lineup moves pushed them into negative territory for the season, costing their team 3 points versus what the experts would have done. Coach Brent Knudson's genius was on exhibition again this week, as they showed why they are the best gameday tactician in the league. They went with Amari Cooper over the higher ranked Ty Chandler. This decision gave Here Goes Nothing a nice 38 point bonus. Coach Knudson's risk taking this game is out of character, as they have been one of the most cautious tacticians in the league. Predictions: The third and deciding game between these two Notrth division rivals. They split the regular season so whowever wins the final matchup will earn a trip to the 2023 SBEFL Championship game. |
