Drops/Pickups
In 2017 was started to use CBS Sportsline to manage all pickups. No longer do you have to wait for the commish to approve your pickup request. The rules for waivers will be decided by CBS in that it will determine waiver request in reverse order of the standings. You also don’t have to worry about waiting an additional week to pick up a player from the prior week. Beginning on Tuesday evening, CBS will award waiver requests and each additional day until Saturday PM. A player that is dropped will be considered to be on waivers for one day. Team owners can submit a request for that dropped player and he will be awarded based on the standings in reverse. Players dropped from Sunday-Monday won’t be allowed to be picked up until Tuesday PM.
CBS Sportsline
The league once again will be using CBS Sportsline to submit player request, official scoring, and overall league news. However; the official league Standings will be used on the SEBFL league website. The standings are updated on Tuesday AM before the Tuesday roster players are awarded. This will ensure no stats have been adjusted by the NFL or CBS Sportsline. After the Roster Pickups are awarded the Prior week’s results are considered official and NOT subject to ANY reversals, no matter what the NFL or CBS Sportsline decides to change at a later date. In year’s past the newspaper was considered the official scoring, today that has been changed to CBS Sportsline, all trick plays, fluke plays, standard plays, and objectionable plays will be declared and considered official by what CBS Sportsline awards our league. This should reduce the amount of league votes on a particular play that may impact the decision of a game. If you feel our league should consider scoring a certain play differently in future years a vote will be called to amend our rules, the majority rules.
Commish
The league Commish is and should be considered impartial. If however a league vote is necessary to resolve a dispute you will be asked to state your reason for or against a particular subject. The votes are tallied and majority wins. If the vote directly impacts the Commish, the Commish will not vote. All votes are considered final and only subject to future discussion before the following draft.
The Commish also has executive privileges that can NOT be taken away during the season. The Commish can invoke this privilege if he feels that the league has been damaged or the integrity of the league has been compromised. At season’s end the league can vote to over-turn the Commish’s ruling with a simple majority, the Commish does not vote.
Team owner will leave our league, while we would like to keep every owner, turnover is inevitable. If a league owner decides to resign from the league. The Commish is responsible for finding a replacement, the open spot will be filled in the order that the league owners resigned, if more than two owners leave during the off-season.
League Termination
A league owner can be terminated from our league by two ways: a 2/3 vote by all league owners or by executive privileges by the league Commish. If a league owner feels he has been harmed and feels the league has been damaged, he will be asked to state his case why a league owner should be terminated from the league. The owner in question will have a final opportunity to make amends and state his case as to why he should not be terminated. The Executive privilege by the Commish can be invoked at any time by the Commish to prevent further damage to the league. The league dues are considered non-refundable and WILL not be returned. All league transactions will be asked to paid in full and the exit from the league will be prompt. A substitute owner will be attempted to be found. In the event an owner can’t be found the league Commish will consider the team a dummy team and only a valid starting lineup will be submitted.
Sportsmanship
Sportsmanship is expected from all league owners, the league is and will be fun. If the Commish feels a league owner has been behaving in a way not fit for our league, the owner could face a possible expulsion from the league (see above). Taunting and poking fun is a part of the league but when the line has been crossed; the League Owner(s) will be asked to cease all future communications. If the owner refuses to cooperate the owner will be asked to leave the league.
Commish Errors
Human errors by the Commish has and will take place in future seasons. It is the responsibility of all league owners to point out to the league commissioner of a possible mistake so the error can be corrected. The Commish will make every effort to fix the problem promptly.
Waivers
When a player is dropped by a fellow owner; from Tuesday – Sunday. That player is considered to be on Waivers. He can NOT be picked up by ANY team owner that week. On Tuesday of the following week; when player pickups are allowed can the player be requested by any team owner. When a player is waived his status as either A, B, or C will REMAIN the same, thus an “A”, “B” or “C” player will be in effect throughout the football year.
Roster
All owners will consist of the following roster each week: 1 Quarterback, 2 Runningbacks, 2 Wide Receivers, 1 Flex Position (RB/WR), 1 Tight Ends, 1 Kicker and 1 Defensive teams. A player on a team can be kept on the same team for three years. At the end of the season all players indicated as a “C’ player will be put into the free agent pool. Bench: You are given 6 bench positions, this can be filled out to however you feel best suits your team.
Injured Reserve
All owners never like it when a player is hurt during the season, however; injuries are too common but some of them are more severe than the rest. If a player on your team has become injured and this injury is so severe that he is placed on IR by the respective NFL team, this player can also be placed on IR on your team. Each league owner has the ability to place one and only one player on IR. If however, a player was placed on IR and the following week a different player is lost for the year, they are allowed to drop the current IR player and move the new player to IR. CBS Sportsline gives each owener the ability to move one player to IR. When submiiting a new player request, only submit the player you wish to add and inform the commish in the comments field that you have moved which player to IR.
If the NFL team removes a player from IR, the league owner MUST move this player back to the active roster. This would mean 16 players are on a team, and this isn’t allowed. A league owner must decide which player he would like to be dropped. There are no exceptions to this rule, if no action is taken, the previous IR player will be made a Free Agent and removed from the team.
Note: A league owner can NOT pick up an injured player and then move him to IR. He can only be placed on IR if he is on an active team and only to that active team’s IR. This will prevent teams from using IR as a way to prepare for the following season. Same with drafted players, if a player is drafted hurt and ends up on IR, that hurt player MUST remain on the active roster. This too prevent teams from drafting an injured player to simply throw him on IR.
Trades
If two or more owners wish to trade players, they may do so by contacting the commissioner. No trades will be allowed after the kick-off of the first NFL game on Thanksgiving Day. In the event of a trade all player status will be kept on the new team, so all “C” players will be “C” players on the new team owner. Trading will be allowed after the season is over. In addition to the trading of players the option of trading draft choices is also available during the off season as well. The only thing to remember is that during the draft 15 players have to be drafted so two for one trades are not allowed, i.e. two draft choices traded for a single player, an additional draft choice must be given to the other team as well. However, you may only keep one player at each position and a maximum of three players may be kept on your roster, to be submitted to the commissioner at the start of next season.
The same rule for pickups apply to player trades, you will not be permitted to re-trade players back the following week, those players can only be dropped via the normal pickup/drop process. I will accept a trade the first week, BUT if I see any of the same players being proposed in a trade the following week to any league owner, it doesn’t need to be the original owner, I will reject the trade. This prevents a team from renting a player for a week.
Trading of Draft Picks:
During the off-season the trading of draft picks is allowed. However; there are special circumstances you need to beware of. Trading of 1st, 2nd or 3rd round picks would mean the forfeit of a keeper in that round. For example, you can’t keep one player and trade down, as that draft pick is considered to be used to keep the player. Thus you are not allowed to trade down in the same round that a player is kept. The same holds true if you want to trade first round picks with another team during the off-season. You can’t trade down in July and keep a player that season. This is not allowed and was voted by the league to not allow these type of trades. The trading of draft picks are allowed for rounds 4-15 and all teams keeping no players are free to trade up or down.
The Lineups
Rule added this year. We will now be using NFL.com for our scoring. I have asked for your input and you have voted for the allowing of substitutions after Noon on Sunday. You can now decide on who you wish to start five minutes before each game. Thus if you have two players on Monday Night, you can decide 5 minutes before game time as to which player you wish to play.
The Draft
Prior to the draft if a player has been protected on your roster. If that player is injured from the time of the roster cut down day and the draft, you will be allowed to drop that player and regain a draft pick. However, the player must be ruled by the respective NFL team as out for the season for this to happen. The day of the draft will be determined by league owners. All owners will need to submit their roster cuts and players that will be protected. A date has not been set for the draft or when the player cuts will be. I will keep you informed as to these dates.
Keepers
Rule Change: We added the flex spot a few years ago, thus we can start three RBs or WRs each week. In 2016; you will be able to keep a maximum of 3 players (1 from three different positions) however; if you decide to keep two players from the same position then only a total of two players can be kept.
Ties
In the event of a tie between 2 or more teams at the end of the regular season the tie breaker is as follows:
1. Head to Head
2. Points Scored
3. Least amount of Points Allowed
4. Flip a coin
Example:
Team #1: finishes 2-2 between the teams.
Team #2: finishes 2-2 between the teams.
Team #3: finishes 1-2 between the teams.
Team #4: finishes 3-1 between the teams.
Team #4 is in the playoff. Team #3 is eliminated. The tie breaker between Team #1 & 2 is determined by Points Scored during the season, etc.
Playoff Tie Breakers
In the event of a tie during a playoff game the tie will be broken by comparing the team’s bench players. The team that has the highest scoring player (regardless of position, including special teams) will be awarded the win. In the event of a tie between the two top players, the second highest player (regardless of position, including special teams) will be compared, followed by the third etc.
Payout
Money awarded at the end of the year will comprise of number of teams:
(9 teams X $40.00 = $360.00) + (10 teams * 10.00 = 100.00) – 100.00 CBS Sportsline fee = 360.00) entry fee, commish doesn’t pay entry fee but does pay NFL.com fee, plus all transactions fees.
The payout to the winners will be as follows:
