One More Makes Four
Results: D.J. Moore and Not Dead Yet beat Mad Mudders for their 4th win in a row Coach Patrick O'Dell looked like he was trying to give away this game with his lineup decisions, but the team just wouldn't quit. In the only close game this week, Not Dead Yet just barely got past Mad Mudders, winning 124 to 119. The win makes it four in a row for Not Dead Yet, which brings their record to 4 – 1. The loss drops Mad Mudders' record to 2 – 3. It's not that hard to win when you have the league's top performer for the week, and D.J. Moore was that player. Moore was the clear leader on Not Dead Yet this week, dropping 53 points. That makes it four straight games of overperforming expectations for him. He had a career-day on Sunday with three touchdowns scored off an incredible 230 receiving yards (a TNF record). Meanwhile, Mad Mudders didn't have anybody who was too hot, or too cold, but this Goldilocks outcome was not 'just right'. The Saints Defense/ST topped the Defense/ST average by 15.9 points to lead the team, while Brandon Aiyuk fell only 7.2 points short of the average WR in bringing up the rear. Aiyuk's 5 points made him the worst starter on his team for the 1st time this season. On the coaching front, this game showed how futile efforts can sometimes be. Not Dead Yet won this game despite, rather than because of, Coach O'Dell's lineup moves. Perhaps scared off by George Pickens's 2 point performance last week, Coach O'Dell left him on the bench in favor of Michael Wilson, despite the experts' prediction that Pickens should have played. This decision took a 25 point chunk out of Not Dead Yet's final score, which almost cost Coach O'Dell's team the game. Coach O'Dell's risk taking this game is out of character, as he has been one of the most cautious tacticians in the league. Coach Dwight Yarger can hardly be blamed for this loss, as they set a perfect lineup this week. That wouldn't have happened if they had just played it safe. They went with Josh Jacobs over the higher ranked James Conner. This decision netted Coach Yarger an extra 10 points. This is the first time this year that Coach Yarger has set a perfect lineup. Predictions: The bye week removes Amari Cooper from the Mudders while the Dead lose no starters. QBs: Jackson VS Allen, Allen was really good last week with 61 points can he do it again this time VS Jacksonville. Lamar plys at the Steelers. RBs: Mixon & Robinson VS Mostert & Elliott, I would say Jacobs and Henry need to get in their lineup. WRs: Ridley & Aiyuk VS Pickens & Moore, is DJ Moore starting to heat up for the Bears? David Montgomery is another back that might need to be started, he is a TD scoring machine for the Dea on their bench. |
