Comments:
The Yoopers were in the hunt for the North division title for most of the season, which is incredible as they had issues all season trying to find a QB that could stay healthy and put-up decent numbers. After Kirk Cousins went down, they went with Dobbs and Jake Browning. When Dobbs is your highest scoring QB and he has been benched late in the season, you know you are having QB issues. What this team did right was the drafting of solid young RBs in Etienne and Breece Hall, those two combined for 20 TDS and could be keepers next season. WRs were Stefon Diggs, Garrett Wilson, Jakobi Meyers, plus Jayden Reed scored 8 TDs this season. The Yoopers will draft 6th next season, they can keep Diggs and Etienne or just look at rebuilding through the draft; as plenty of big-name stars will be cut this off-season. They only have 8 months to figure out a game plan to try and win the North division and move further in the playoffs in 2024.

The Yoopers are 5-2 and in 1st place in the North division. They have scored 734 points on the season. This team is led by QB Kirk Cousins, he has 202 points scored on the year with 2,057/16 TDs. The Vikings are having a down year but not due to the QB play. RBs are Travis Etienne and Breece Hall, they have combined for 9 TDs. Both backs could be a top 10 draft pick at the RB position in 2024. The wideouts are Diggs (678/8) and Meyers (385/5) Jakobi’s move to Las Vegas has been a smart one as the Raiders throw to him more often. Other weapons on this team are George Kittle and Garrett Wilson, Kittle is one of the top TEs in the NFL and if the 49ers are going to get a first-round bye, he will need to put up very good numbers. The Yoopers are in first place in the North but find two 4-3 teams right behind him. No room for a long losing streak if they want to earn a first-round bye. I expect to see them in the playoffs at the end of the regular season, we shall see if that is as a division winner or as a wild-card team.

Top 3 draft picks:
Steffon Diggs, Garrett Wilson & Dameon Pierce
The Yoopers cut Diggs but were able to gamble and get him back again on this team. Now they have a possible keeper for multiple seasons if they choose. Wilson could become a D. Adams clone in New York, he had a strong rookie season but this year he gets Aaron Rodgers to throw to him and I am expecting top 10 WR numbers from him. Pierce was solid in Houston, so the hope is more of the same. My only concern with Pierce is the lack of receiving yards, so I would like to see that improve this year. A solid top 3 picks to help build this team back in title contention.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Breece Hall, Hall was on pace to be an offensive rookie of the year until he tore his knee during week 7. To make matters worse New York signed Dalvin Cook after the Vikings released him. Does that mean the Jets will go slow with Breece and play Cook more to start the season. If Cook performs really well, does Breece face the dreaded RB by committee?
Overall:
The Yoopers are a rebuilt team after they tossed everyone back and look to build a winning team through the draft. At WR they will use Diggs, Wilson & Dotson or Thomas. At RB this team are young with three backs who were played in their first NFL season in 2022: B. Hall, D. Pierce and T. Etienne. As written above Breece Halll has the most potential of the three backs, can he live up to the hype? At QB the team rolls with Kirk Cousins or Aaron Rodgers, it might be a case of playing the QB with the easier matchup. in each given week. Kirk has some nice weapons to throw to with Jefferson, Hockenson and Jordan Addison added to the Vikings. Other weapons to use are TE George Kittle, RB Rashard Penny, Antonio Gibson and WR Michael Thomas.
CBS Sports is picking the Yoopers to be a playoff team, as they enter their 4th season in the SBEFL. Is the year they seal the deal and earn their first league title?

Comments:
The Juggernauts didn’t have a kind 2023 season. At one point I was wondering if they would win a game this year. They did manage 3 wins but plenty of injuries to star players ruined a team that high hopes this season. One player that had a really good season was rookie CJ Stroud, he looks like a legit QB in this league with 21 TDs and almost 4,000 yards passing. The future looks bright in Houston. Other weapons include a trio of RBs on Achane, Barkley and Jerome Ford. They rushed for a combined 15 TDs, but Barkley struggled with poor QB in NY and really bad QB play. We shall see if Barkley is a Giant next season. At WR they use Sutton, McLaurin, Watson and Higgins. but all season it seemed like one or two of them were banged up. If there is one position the Juggernauts need to find improvement is at the WR position. The Juggernauts will have the first pick in the 2024 draft. With CMC being released he would be an easy pick at #1 overall. It is the later rounds that could decide how much this team is improved over the 3-win 2023 team. If you decide to finish last, this would be the year to do with so many talented weapons needing to be cut.

Comments:
The Juggernauts avoided a winless first half with a one point win during week #7. They enter the second half at 1-6 and last place in the North division. On the season they have scored 672 points. At QB the team is led by Trevor Lawerence (1,643/8) I would like to see the TDs be a bit higher but he does have 144 points on the season. At RB the combo of Chubb and Barkley has been derailed due to injuries. Barkley has 284/1 so the hope is Jonathan Taylor can emerge as a top back on this team. He had a good week 7, maybe this is a start of a very good second half. WRs are where this team has really struggled. Christian Watson can barely finish a game (143/1) while Tee Higgins has 149/2, both miserable numbers from these draft picks. Luckily Mark Andrews has been very good with 357 yards and 5 TDs. The Juggernauts have a long road ahead if they want to earn a playoff spot. They have to catch one of the four 3-4 teams for a final playoff spot. Going 5-2 only puts them at 6-8, the odds are long, but at least they can win some highest scoring teams for the week and play the role of spoiler. Not the type of first half many expected from this team.

2022 Year-End: 5-9 – 7th Place
Keepers: Nick Chubb & Saquon Barkley
Top 3 draft picks:
Nick Chubb, Saquon Barkley and Mark Andrews
These two RBs could be in the top-5 in scoring at the RB position his season. Chubb should see more passing plays with Kareem Hunt no longer in Cleveland and Barkley isn’t holding out and thus an easy pick in the first round in most fantasy leagues. He will get the bulk of carries and should see a ton passes thrown his way. Mark Andrews is hoping for a better 2023 season and that can easily happen as long at Lamar Jackson can remain healthy for an entire season.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Jonathan Taylor was the #1 ranked player in most fantasy leagues in 2022. After a horrible season with poor performances and injuries, Taylor has dropped in fantasy rankings in 2023. He demanded to be traded, and when no one came calling. The Colts put him on the PUP list meaning he will miss the first three games. Does he play for the Colts this season and will he return to his former self?? The Colts soap-opera continues.
Overall:
The Juggernauts have been consistently good each season and 2023 looks to be no different. They have two really good backs in Barkley and Chubb, the league has to hope Taylor doesn’t come back anytime soon as that would give this team a really good flex-spot player. Other key weapons are TE Mark Andrews, WR: Christian Watson, Tee Higgins and Drake London. Those are three young WRs who look to have a promising season ahead of them. Throw in QB Trevor Lawerence and you can see why the Juggernauts are picked to finish 3rd this year. I am not sure why CBS gave this team only a C+ even though the point total is ranked 3rd best? Lawerance looks to have Jacksonville on the upswing and unless Tennessee bounces back, I am picking Jacksonville to win the AFC South. You know you are drafted on a young team when Terry McLaurin is the veteran with 5 years of experience. Some day this team could look back and say I had Drake London, Quinton Johnston and Jaxon Smith Njgba all on the same team.
Is 2023 the year the “Nauts hoist their second league championship banner?

Comments:
The Mudders have the best QB in the league in Josh Allen and his 42 combined TDs. Other weapons on this team , who came out of nowhere, Raheem Mostert and his 21 TDs. Who saw that coming? Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs and James Conner round out the RBs on this team. Derrick was solid with 11 TDs but I get the impression he will be falling down 2024 draft boards next season. Not sure if I trust a 30-year RB with a 2nd or 3rd round draft. At WRs they used Brandon Aiyuk, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett, I really liked Aiyuk’s play this season with 7 TDs and 1,300 yards. Calvin Ridley was solid, but never took his game to an All-pro level. So where do the Mudders go from here? They will draft 5th so they will miss out of some star players like CMC, Jefferson and possibly Chase. Do they keep Allen but is Mostert worthy of a 2nd round draft pick? What about Henry or Aiyuk? The other option cut everyone and re-build the team through the draft but risk losing Allen. Lots of options and plenty of months ahead for this team to finalize on a draft strategy, to hopefully move past the wild-card round in 2024.

The Mudders are 3-4 and in 3rd place in the South division. They have scored 711 points on the season. The QB leading this team is Josh Allen with 220 points and 1,841 and 15 TDs plus throw in 4 rushing TDs and you have a top 5 QB in this league. At RB they use Mostert, Henry and Z. Moss, these backs have scored 16 rushing TDs. Henry has been solid but hasn’t had a monster season, is the wear and tear from past seasons taken its toll? The WRs are Ridley (368/2) and Cooper (389/1) , those numbers need to improve if the team hopes to win the South division or earn a wild-card spot. Other weapons on this team are Brandon Aiyuk, Josh Jacobs and Evan Engram. Josh has 347/2 a huge drop-off from his monster 2022 campaign. Brandon has caught for 511 yards as he has become Brock Purdy’s go-to WR in SF. The Mudders are in the hunt for a playoff spot, they have some solid WRs that had a down first half, if those receivers turn it around in the second half, this team should win more games than lose. Meaning they will be in the mix for a playoff spot.

Top 3 draft picks:
Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs & Josh Allen
“With the first pick in the SEBFL draft, the Mudders select Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee. Getting the first pick gives the team a shot at any of the top players that season. BUT that also means this team was the worst team the league last year. After holding out, I expect Josh Jacobs to play just as good as he looks for a long-term contract. Josh Allen has the Bills thinking SuperBowl. is this the year he gets Buffalo back to the big game?
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Calvin Ridley, Ridley had an awful 2021 season, that was cut short to only 5 games. He then was lost for the 2022 season after being suspended by the NFL for betting on NFL games. He was traded this off-season to Jacksonville, and I am expecting big things from him this year. He has a promising QB in Trevor throwing to him and an improving overall team. If he is a disaster and Jacksonville struggles, he will become enemy #1 by the Jacksonville media.
Overall:
The Mudders want to move on from 2022 disaster of a season. Having the first pick in each round should help and based on CBS giving this team a B and picking them to end the year in the playoffs. It looks the draft will really help this team. At RB this team is loaded with Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs and James Conner. At QB they will use Josh Allen as he looks to get the Bills past the Bengals and Chiefs and back to a Super Bowl to finish what Jim Kelly could never do. Bring the Lombardi trophy to Buffalo. At WR they will use Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett. TE will be Evan Engram and other bench players are Brandon Aiyuk and Raheem Mostert.
The Mudders are one of 4 teams in our league to have never won a league title, they have been there twice but so far it has eluded them. Just like the Bills, is 2023 the year that mud is sprayed all over the SEBFL after the Mudders win their first?

The Dominators suffered a loss in the semi-finals but was able to bounce back and beat the Rookie in the consolation game, taking 3rd place. Lets see how they built this to take thrid place. QBs: Geno Smith and Tua Tagivailoa was acquired in a trade for Dak Prescott. Both QBs were actually quite good, not sure who got the better of that trade. At RB the team used Bijan Robinson, Alvin Kamara and Najee Harris. Bijan was solid in his rookie season but I think a lot more was expected from this back. He scored 7 combined TDs and 900 rushing yards. Alvin missed the first couple games from an NFL suspension but still finished with 6 TDs and 1,000 combined yards. WRs were really good led by Mike Evans and his 13 TDs, Deebo Samuel blossomed under Brocky Purdy and he scored 12 combined TDs. Other weapons on this team are Davante Adams, Taysom Hill and David Njoku. Adams struggled with poor QB in Vegas and one reason why he only scored 7 TDs. Looking ahead to 2024, the team could keep a couple players: Robinson at RB, a WR like Evans, Samuel or Adams and QB Tua. That would give the team a solid footing at the 8th draft slot. Or just cut everyone and see who falls to them at 8. Lots of options.

The Dominators are 3-4 and in 4th place in the South Division. They scored 678 points in the first half. At QB they use newly acquired Tua Tagovailoa after they traded Dak to Laurie for Tua. Tua has 2,092 and 15 passing TDs. He has the Dolphins in the mix to win the AFC East. At RB they use Kamara (261/1) and Robinson (404/0). Kamara missed the first part of the season due to a NFL suspension but since he has been back in a Saints uniform he has been really good. Bijan has been up and down this season, the hope for the Dominators that he takes a bigger step forward in the second half. The WRs are Samuel, Adams and Evans, combined these three have caught for 8 TDs, the injuries to Deebo have hurt this groups numbers. Can he come back and play at a higher level? Other weapons are Hunt at RB, Dallas Goedert at TE and N. Harris. With so many injuries at the RB spot in Cleveland, Hunt has a chance to be a surprise pickup. The Dominators are tied with 4 other 3-4 teams who hope to earn a playoff spot. One reason why this team has 4 losses, they are 1-4 within the division, they have 3 games left within the division, those are must win games. But at 3-4 every game in the second half is going to be must-win games.

Top 3 draft picks:
Bijan Robinson, Davante Adams & Najee Harris
Robinson was picked in the first round by the Dominators hoping that the hype around Robinson is true. Is he the next Saquon Barkley and a can’t miss RB? He plays on a run first offense in Atlanta and is known for his catching abilities. He just needs to prevent Cordelle Patterson from stealing carries. Adams will lost Derek Carr in Vegas and has Jimmy G throwing to him. That is part of the concern many have with Adams, great talent but less than stellar QBs throwing to him.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Alvin Kamara, Alvin will miss the first three games this season. So he is a stash and hope he comes back much better than 2022. Last year he only scored 2 rushing TDs but with Derek Carr now in New Orleans, the hope is Alvin will see a Saints offense that scores more TDs this year. The signing of Jamaal Williams does concern me, while Alvin is away doe Jamaal cement himself as the goal-line back?
Overall:
The Dominators had a solid 2022 season and thus forces them to draft 7th in each round. With keepers and players being taken ahead of them. The Dominators turn to a rookie RB in Robinson to lead this team on the ground. If fantasy leagues were won by hype, Robinson would be leading this team each week in scoring. NFL teams rarely take RBs in the first round so that means Bijan has some big shoes to fill. Other weapons on this team are Najee Harris & Cam Akers on the ground. WRs are Davante Adams, DeAndre Hopkins and Deebo Samuel. Those are three WRs who have played in many Pro-Bowl games. Can Hopkins return to elite WR status now that Tannehill is throwing to him? Will Deebo be able to take back the carries and receptions that Christian has been taking? At TE we have Dallas Goedert from Philly or Greg Dulcich from Denver. QBs are Dak Prescott or Derek Carr, Dak will get the start as the Cowboys are expected to put up big numbers through the air If not Derek might have the Saints as a sleeper in the NFC South.
The Dominators are similar to the Juggernauts with 1 championship but 4 championship game appearances. Is 2023 the season they join, three other active teams, with more than 1 championship wins? CBS has this team missing the playoffs, we shall see who is right or wrong; in about 4 months.

The Rookie had a solid season finishing in 4th place but they can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Justin Jefferson wasn’t lost for a big part of the season. So how did this team make the consolation game. At QB they use two youngsters in Love and Purdy. Brock threw for 31 TDs but Jordan was just behind him with 30. At Rb they used Christian McCaffrey, and he was simply amazing with 21 combined TDs and 2,000 combined yards. Too bad he has to be cut at season’s end, because he will most likely go first in most fantasy drafts. A surprise pickup during the season was LA Rams RB Kyren Williams. He scored 15 combined TDs once he took over the backfield in LA. Other weapons on this team were Justn Jefferson, he scored 4 TDs and 800 yards on only 9 games played. TJ Hockenson at TE had 5 TDs and almost 1,000 yards receiving. Other players who had a solid season was DeVonta Smith, Adam Thielen and Devin Singletary. Looking ahead to 2024, the team will lose Jefferson and McCaffrey due to being C players. Losing two star players will be tough, but they could keep Williams at RB and possibly Love or Purdy as a 2nd rounder. The other option is release everyone and build a new team from the 7th draft spot.

The Rookie are 4-3 and in 2nd place in the North division. They have scored 778 points on the young season. QBs are Brocky Purdy or Joe Burrow, Brock has been the starter lately with 1,668 and 11 TDs, he has the 49ers in first place in the NFC West. I was expecting Joe Burrow to be having a much better season (1,230 and 7 TDs), if the Bengals are going to earn a playoff spot, he needs to play much better. RBs are Christian McCaffrey (598/8) and Kyren Willliams (456/6) but he is on IR right now. So AJ Dillion or another pickup is going to need to pickup the slack. WRs include DeVonta Smith and Josh Palmer, Justin Jefferson is also on IR, so this team has lots of injuries that is ruining a once unbeaten team. Smith has 383 yards and 2 TDs, i would like to see those receiving TDs increase. Other weapons on this team that is not on IR are Adam Theilen and Romeo Dobbs and TE TJ Hockenson (390/2). The Rookie at one point was unbeaten but then the injuries really hit this team hard. Losing Jefferson removes one of the best WRs in the game. The goal in the second half, get a playoff spot, and watch Williams, Jefferson and Joe Burrow win some playoffs games for this team.

Justin Jefferson, Christian McCaffrey & Joe Burrow. Not a hard decision keeping Jefferson and CMC on this team. In most draft boards that is 2 players drafted in the top 3. Justin will be among the best WRs this season and CMC should benefit from having an entire off-season in SF. Joe will have the Bengals in the hunt for the Super Bowl. Having a star WR in Ja’Marr Chase on Cincy makes his life that much easier. A top 5 QB once again this season.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Odell Beckham, Odell hasn’t played in an NFL since the Rams were in the Super Bowl. He now moves from LA to Baltimore and hopes to pair up with Lamar and push the Ravens far into the playoffs. Odell has the skills to be an elite WR but hasn’t scored 10 or more TDs in a single season since 2016. This is a classic stash and hope he can turn around his career. Not a bad 15th round pick.
Overall:
The Rookie picked 3rd in this year’s draft but had to wait until the third round to make their first draft pick, after keeping CMC and Justin Jefferson. Who wouldn’t keep those two-star players. Both players are C players this year so this is the final year that these players can be kept. Other key players on this roster are RBs: JK Dobbins, AJ Dillon and K. Herbert, can JK finally show what he can do over an entire NFL season? At WRs we find DeVonta Smith, Mike Williams and Romeo Doubs. DeVonta has a super-star QB in Hurts in Philly. If the Eagles are going to make a return trip to the Super Bowl, Smith will need to move even higher on the WR draft board in 2024. QBs are Joe Burrow and backup Brock Purdy, I know Joe is the starter on this team, but as of a fan of the NFL, it will be interesting to see how Brock plays in SF. TE is TJ Hockenson, he just got a huge 4 year contract extension. Now he has to live up of that contract!!!
The Rookie are no longer a rookie in the SEBFL, but when you are the pre-season pick to win it all. That means teams will be gunning to take them down. Also, in case no one has told the Rookie, the commish has a curse. Unfortunately, this team is marked with that curse, but is it real???

Comments:
The Cougars finished outside of the playoffs at 6-8, which was more or less where they started after the first half at 3-4. The trade of Tua for Dak and Hopkins helped the team, as they went with Dak over Patrick Mahomes during stretches of the season. Dak had more TDs, passing yards and scored almost 100 more points than Mahomes. At RB the team used Gus Edwards and his 13 rushing TDs along with James Cook, but Aaron Jones missed big chunks of the season and only scored 2 TDs. At WR, this is one position that needs be addressed in the draft. No WR had more than 7 TDs (Collins), the other WRs of Hopkins and Waddle scored a combined 10 TDs, not bad but when you are going up against a trio of WRs of Chase, Lamb and Brown, the team needs more firepower at the WR position in 2024. Looking ahead to next year, the team could keep Dak or Mahomes at QB, RB could be Cook and WR Collins or Waddle. But drafting 4th, it might just be better to cut the entire team and build through the draft. Especially since CMC, Chase, & Jefferson will be released. That pushes players that would go 2-3 down to the 4th draft spot.

Comments:
The Cougars are 3-4 and in last place in the South Division. They scored 603 points on the season. This team is lead by QB Patrick Mahomes (2,017 and 15 TDs) he has my vote for league MVP. If he is in the Super Bowl wouldn’t come to shock to me. RBs: Gus Edwards and James Cook, they have rushed for a combined 3 TDs. Aaron Jones is the other back on this team, but his numbers are awful: 94 yards and 1 TD. When you start him, you worry he will be able to finish a game. WRs are Nico Collins and Jaylen Waddle, they have caught for 5 TDs with 3 TDs coming for Collins who has really shined with CJ Stroud throwing to him. Other weapons on this team are Kyle Pitts and DeAndre Hopkins. DeAndre was included in the Dak Prescott trade for Tua. The Cougars wish they could play the Dominators more often as they are 2-0 against them. At 3-4 they are one game behind the three 4-3 teams. A playoff spot could come down to playoff tiebreakers. All they can do is win often in the second half and improve those odds of earning a playoff spot.
Grade: D
2022 Year-End: 7-7 6th place
Keepers: Patrick Mahomes & Aaron Jones
Top 3 draft picks:
Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Jones & Jaylen Waddle. Patrick is simply known as the best QB in the NFL. He has league MVPs, two Super Bowl rings and is very rich with his 10 year $500 million contract. But what really matters is almost 5,000 passing yards and 37 TDs. He has the best TE in football and a great coach in Andy Reid. Aaron Jones, has a new QB in Love throwing to him this season, I think that is why Aaron has fallen on draft boards, because he play was really good in 2022. Jaylen has a WR tandem in Hill that should make all NFL defensive back nervous. Double-team Hill and try to contain Waddle one on one, ouch.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Dalvin Cook, Dalvin was a keeper last year by the Honor but was an average back and that led to him being a cap-causality cut in Minnesota. Hard to believe how NFL RBs fall even at the age of 28 years old. After his release he was signed by the Jets to provide a run game, in case Breece Hall is re-injured after his ACL injury last season. If the Jets are going to make a long playoff push, they need a strong run game, and Dalvin could be that back.
Overall:
The Cougars have been rated poorly this season by CBS sports, but last season that also happened but they proved those doubters wrong with a playoff spot. This season they kept two players in Mahomes and Jones. It was hard to cut the #1 QB in the NFL, Jones should see plenty of carries and passes thrown his way. In addition to those two, they will use RBs: James Cook and brother Dalvin Cook, S. Perine moved from Cincy to Denver and hopes to provide Russell with solid RB gains. At WR we have Waddle, Skyy Moore and Nico Collins. This is a young group of WRs that the Cougars are hoping can have breakout seasons. At TE they will use Kyle Pitts, the most hyped TE in the league, is this finally the season that he lives up to that hype??? Bench players are Jerry Juedy and Tua, Tua needs to stay healthy so players like Hill and Waddle can catch short passes into long TDs. Miami might have the best 1-2 punch at the WR position.
The Cougars are now entering their 15th season in the league, has it really been that long? They have been to one championship game and won the league title. Just like the Dominators and Juggernauts the Cougars are looking to earn that elusive 2nd title. Is 2023 the year they earn a second ring?

Comments:
The Dead found out how hard it is to make it back to the championship game and struggled to a 9th place finish. On paper this isn’t that bad of a team. QB is Lamar Jackson and his 29 combined TDs, he scored 438 points and was among the best at the position. RBs had some gems in David Montgomery with 12 TDs and almost 1,000 yards, Joe Mixon pitched in with 10 TDs and also just under 1,000 yards. At WR they had a solid season from DJ Moore with 9 TDs and 1,300 yards. George Pickens, even with a horrible QB play in Pittsburgh caught 1,100 yards and 5 TDs. One player that was a real letdown was Travis Kelce, he was a first round pick and scored only 5 TDs and less than 1,000 yards. Looking ahead to 2024, I would be surprised if anyone was kept, not with Jefferson or Chase is waiting to be picked #2. You can take a young star WR at #2 and then use the second-round pick on a WR/RB and look at getting Lamar back in the 3rd or 4th round. But the Dead have 9 months to come up with a draft strategy.

Comments:
The Dark Horse are 5-2 and in first place in the South Division. They have scored 706 points on the season but also won two highest scoring awards. The team is led by QB Lamar Jackson (1,610/8 TDs) plus he has 5 rushing TDs. He has the Ravens at the top of the AFC North division. At RB: David Montgomery (385/6) and Brian Robinson (325/4) but with David out a few games, they will need to rely on Joe Mixon (366/1) and hope he starts to have a good second half running the ball. WRs are DJ Moore (636/5) and Chris Godwin (398/0) Chris has yet to find the end zone this season. The final big weapon on this team is TE Travis Kelce with 525 yards and 4 TDs. One of the best TEs in this game helps with the receiving numbers on this team. The Horse are in first place at 5-2, that record should set this team up perfectly for a playoff spot. Can hold off the 4 teams behind them and earn a division title, first round bye and guaranteed playoff money? Getting a productive David Montgomery back will help as will Justin Fields improve the scoring from Moore. Ultimately Lamar Jackson hasn’t been able to stay healthy for an entire NFL season, losing him for an extended period would be a disaster. In 7 weeks we shall see if this team has remained in first place.
Grade: A-
2022 Year-End: 8-6 – 2nd place
Keepers: Travis Kelce
Top 3 draft picks:
Travis Kelce, Joe Mixon & Lamar Jackson
Travis is easily the best TE in football and will be a hall of famer after he retires. It is rare to see a TE selected in the first round but having Travis on your team gives you a 4th WR to throw against your opponent. Joe Mixon plays on a high scoring offense in Cincy, if the Bengals are going to make a run at another Super Bowl berth, Joe will need to stay healthy and play at an Pro Bowl level. Lamar got his huge contract extension this offseason and Baltimore added some weapons on offense to throw to. We shall see how Odell does in this offense. Can Lamar stay healthy and play like an MVP-type QB?
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Lamar Jackson, see above as to why Lamar is a risk but come with so much potential. Now that he will be paid at a high level. The pressure is on the QB to deliver a AFC North title but also look at earning a Super Bowl berth. I see KC, Buffalo and Cincy being three big obstacles.
Overall:
The Dead earned their first championship appearance last year. Can they repeat or take that final step and earn a league title? They kept TE Travis Kelce but instead of keeping Henry or Pollard, they decided to release both. We shall see if Henry or Joe Mixon has the better season. At WR the Dead could have kept AJ Brown but also cut him, leaving him with DJ Moore. We shall see if Moore or Brown has the better season. At QB the Dead roll with Jackson and I think we talked enough about him. Also, at RB they will use Stevenson, Brian Robinson, D. Foreman. Stevenson plays for Bill Belichick, can he be trusted to not replace Stevenson if had a poor game? At WR they will use only three WRs: DJ Moore, Pickens, and Marquise Brown. With bye weeks, I am expecting some pickups at this position. In case Lamar suffers an injury, the team picked up Jared Goff, a more than capable QB to use during bye weeks.
The Dead had a great run last year, now can they do it again but this time picking 9th in each round? Which makes things a little more challenging. They got rid of the goose-egg next to Championship appearances, will 2023 be the year that the goose-egg next to Championships also disappears?

Comments:
The Honor just like the Dead found out how hard it is to get back to the Championship game. They finished the season in 8th place at 5-9. Looking at the team, this is actually a talented group of players. Jalen Hurts led this team at the QB position with 38 combined TDs with 15 rushing TDs. At RB they use Rachaad White and his dual-threat abilities with 1,400 combined yards and 9 combined TDs. One player that really let this team down was Austin Eckler as he scored only 6 TDs combined and less than 1,000 yards combined. As a first round on this team, he needed to play much better. It will be interesting to see who is willing to pay him next season? At WR, Aman-Ra St. Brown, took a leap up the 2024 draft boards with his 1,300 yards and 9 TDs. Keenan Allen score 8 TDs and had 1,200 yards, but losing Justin Herbert hurt his production down the stretch. Another surprise hit on this team was Sam LaPorta at TE. He scored 9 TDS and just under 900 yards. On paper there are some keepers in St. Brown, Hurts along with White or LaPorta. But drafting 3rd, it would be hard to pass up on a Chase or Jefferson. Decisions, decisions…

Comments:
The Defending champ enters the second half at 3-4 and in fourth place in North. They have scored 682 points in the first half. This team is led at the QB position by Jalen Hurts who has 1,821 passing yards and 15 combined TDS. If the Eagles are going to return to the Super Bowl, Jalen will need to lead them. At RB they use Austin Eckler (189/1) and newly acquired Darrell Henderson who will take over the lead back position in LA. The WRs are St. Brown (557/3) Keenan Allen (574/4) and Chris Olave (471/1), I would like to see Olave catch more TD passes but with Carr banged up that has affected his production. Other weapons on this team are Sam LaPorta (377/3) at the TE position, DK Metcalf and R. White at the RB position in Tampa. The Honor are in first place when it comes to the amount of pickups, luckily for them they pre-paid $10. Can the defending champ earn a playoff spot? They are only one game behind the 4-3 teams, they hope is Henderson gets on a roll and scores some long TD runs and Jalen stays healthy and puts up even bigger numbers. We shall see if this team is among the 5 playoff teams in about 7 more weeks.

2022 Year-End: 9-5 – 1st place
Keepers: Austin Eckler, Amon-Ra St. Brown, & Jalen Hurts
Top 3 draft picks:
Austin Eckler, A. St. Brown & Jalen Hurts
It is really hard to argue against not keeping either of these three players. Eckler would have been long gone in the first round if he wasn’t kept. St. Brown may or may not be there in the 2nd. The same could be said about Hurts. But why not lock up these three players and use the 4th round and later to bolster the lineup. Eckler should be the focal point in LA and the same will be said about St. Brown. If this was a PPR league, St. Brown would go even higher in drafts simply because he will catch a ton of balls this season. Jalen has the Eagles thinking SuperBowl. Typically, teams that lose in the Super Bowl struggle the following season. We shall see if that trend continues.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Javonte Williams, if the Broncos are going to recover from the 2022 disaster, they will need to get a strong running game. I know Williams is banged up after tearing his ACL and other ligaments last year. If he returns back to his former self, kudos to his physician and the Broncos medical staff. Using a 7th round pick on a player like Williams could provide great depth on this team behind Eckler.
Overall:
2023 is the start of the “Drive for 5” campaign for the Honor. They are looking at tying the commish as the only 5-time champion in the SEBFL history. Lets see how they did drafting 10th in each round. QB; Jalen Hurts & Geno Smith, both QBs had great seasons in 2022. Who in Seattle would have thought moving from Wilson to Smith would be such a success. At RB they will use multi-talented Austin Eckler, White or Williams or rookie RB Charbonnet. WRs are veterans: DK Metcalf, Keenan Allen, Dionte Johnson and Chris Godwin. to go along with St. Brown. TE is another rookie in Sam LaPorta, can he establish himself early in Detroit as a top TE in the NFL?
The Honor are a 4-time champion, enough rings put on each finger on his right hand. Now he looks to start placing rings on the left-hand. Drafting 10th in each round is never easy, but having three really good keepers does help. We shall see if the Drive for 5 is a success or do they look at 2024 to complete the mission.

Comments:
The Nothing had almost a perfect season, first overall, first in the North Division, the only thing missing was best overall record. The Nothing proved drafting RBs early doesn’t mean success. Instead, this team drafted WRs early and often and those WRs helped out this team achieve a 3rd championship. At QB they went with Justin Herbert until he was lost for the last part of the season. They turned Matthew Stafford and he was solid with 24 passing TDs. At RB they used Swift and Pacheco and those two combined for 2,000+ yards and 12 rushing TDs. At WR is where they scored often with the likes of Brown, Chase, and Lamb. Combined they caught for 4,200 yards and 24 TDs. Simply amazing trio of WRs that helped this team earn a title. Other weapons included Michael Pittman, Trey McBride and Dalton Schulz. The Nothing will lose Ja’Marr Chase this season, leaving them to keep Lamb and Brown. I know Pacheco had a solid season, but it would be hard to let Brown go after his 2023 season. The Nothing won back-to-back titles only two years ago, we shall see if they can perform the feat once again.

The Nothing finished the first half at 4-3 and in third place in the North division. They have scored 739 points on the season. This team is led by QB Justin Herbet who has 1,592 yards passing and 13 combined TDs. I feel those numbers should be higher but with failures in the redzone has bumped those numbers down. At RB they run the ball with Swift (514/2) and Pacheco (419/3) those two backs play on the team Super Bowl teams from 2022, so they will be relied on heavily down the playoff stretch. WRs are Chase, Lamb and Brown, combined they have caught 7 TDs, which is way too low for this talented group of WRs. Hopefully this groups see the endzone more often in the second half. Other weapons on this team are Miles Sanders, Pittman and Christian Kirk the hope is during bye weeks they can provide a TD. The Nothing has shown in past seasons they love playing in the second half of the season. Keeping these players injury free will help ensure this team can go 4-3 in the second half and earn a playoff spot. With some luck who knows they are only 1 game back from the division leader. As with the other 9 teams, the second half will decide who is in or out.

Keepers: JaMarr Chase
Top 3 draft picks:
JaMarr Chase, AJ Brown & CeeDee Lamb
Keeping JaMarr Chase is a no brainer. He is going to score a lot of TDs in Cincy and he is also one reason why the Bengals are in the conversation to be Super Bowl bound worthy. AJ Brown and CeeDee Lamb give this team the best WR trio in the league. Brown was dropped by the Dead and was easily picked in the second round. Lamb plays on a Cowboys team that wants to win the NFC East and finally win some playoff games in the Big D.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Alexander Mattison, he is being asked to fill some big shoes now that Cook was cut. Mattison has had to replace Dalvin through-out the past few seasons with only so-so success. If the Vikings falter a lot of that blame is going to land on Alexander’s shoulders. If Mattison struggles, I am expecting the Vikings to draft his replacement in 2024. The life being an NFL RB.
Overall:
The Nothing picked in the middle of the draft but did keep Chase to give them an elite WR. In the 2nd and 3rd round, they focused solely on the WR position. We shall see if skipping RBs will cost this team in 2023. At RB along with Mattison they can start Miles Sanders or Isiah Pacheco. With no other RBs on the roster, I am expecting pickups to get past the bye weeks or injuries. This team is the exact opposite of the Mudders. At QB they picked one of the best ones out there in Justin Herbert with Anthony Richardson being the backup. At TE they can use Taysom Hill or Pat Freiermuth. Will Taysom see some snaps at QB in New Orleans or is Derek Carr not leaving the field while the offense is playing?
The Nothing are being picked by CBS Sports to be a wildcard team. They finished in 5th place last season, will 2023 be a much better season? This will be their 6th season in our league but has already won 2 championships. A sleeper team that has proven they can get hot when it matters, the playoffs.

Comments:
The Attack were among the worst at scoring from the QB position until late in the season when Murray and Fields got healthy. Finally to end the season they were getting 20+ points at the position. When the QBs were faltering the other positions kept this team in the hunt for a playoff spot with the likes of Tyreek Hill with his 1,700 yards and 12 TDs. Helping Tyreek were players like Jahmyr Gibbs with 900+ yards rushing and 9 TDs, Puka Nacua and his 1,400 yards and 5 TDs. Other players who chipped in were Kenneth Walker, 9 TDs/800 yards. Two players that didn’t live up to the high draft pick were Tony Pollard and Cooper Kupp, Pollard only had 5 TDs and less than 1,000 yards. Kupp was limited to 12 games and caught for 700 yards and 5 TDs. Looking ahead to next season. Since they are drafting 9th, they have some keepers. First being Tyreek Hill, hard to let this receiver go. Do they pair Hill with a Kupp or Nucua or keep Gibbs instead? The other option is to keep Hill only and see who is out there at the 9th draft spot in the 2nd round.

Comments:
The Attack finish the first half at 4-3 and in second place in the South Division. They scored 787 points in the first half. The Attack has really struggled at the QB position. Stafford has 1.908 and 7 TDs but the hope is Fields can come back soon. He shown flashes of dominating football games, but the following week throws up a dud. At RB the team is led by Walker (450/6) Pollard (370/2) and Gibbs (247/1), is Gibbs going to remain hot after his solid week #7. WRs are Hill (902/7) Kupp (295/1) and Puka Nacua (752/2). Hill has been playing at league MVP-level, he has 7 TDs and is Tua’s favorite target. Other weapons on this team are Darren Waller, Gabe Davis and Jordan Addison. The team is deep at the main positions, give this team a productive QB and this team can challenge for the South division title. They are the highest scoring team despite scoring the least amount of points at the QB position. Can the Attack hold off the 3-4 teams and earn a playoff spot? Or can they get on a roll and earn another south Division title? We will have the answers to those questions in 7 weeks.

2022 Year-End: 4-10 – 9th place
Keepers: None
Top 3 draft picks:
Tyreek Hill, Tony Pollard & Cooper Kupp
Tyreek Hill is one of the best WRs in the NFL and plays on an explosive offense in Miami. Can he become the first NFL WR to catch 2,000 yards? We all know he has the speed to do it. Tony Pollard is going to be the workhorse down in Dallas after Zeke Elliott was released. Tony can catch and run the ball out of the backfield, which means he stays on the field on 3rd downs. If Dallas is going to win the NFC East, Tony needs to have a special type of season.
Highest Risk, Highest Reward:
Cooper Kupp, Cooper was amazing during the Rams Super Bowl win, but last year injuries cut his season short, but the concern is he is already battling hamstring injuries. I don’t get it; the NFL has by far the longest off-season in sports. Plus, most star players don’t play in preseason games, yet before the season even begins, he has hamstring issues???
Overall:
The Atack had an awful season last year. Thus, why they picked 2nd in the draft. To their surprise they were able to get two of the best WRs in the NFL; Kupp and Hill. Pair those WRs with Pollard and you have a solid three players to try and reverse their bad season. Other key players will be Rookies: Jahmyr Giibs and Jordan Addison, can these two players become go-to players and quickly? Veterans include Gabe Davis, Jamaal Williams and DeAndre Swift. Other options are Kenneth Walker and TE Darren Waller, who takes his game to New York Giants. At QB the team is using speedy QB Justin Fields or backup QB DeShaun Watson. Both QBs like to run the ball. Can Justin elevate his game to a Lamar Jackson level?
The Attack were bad last season and look to bounce back in 2023. Since their last Championship in 2019, they continue to use the phrase, “Looking for a 6-pack”. Is this the year they win the coveted 6th championship?
