This year has been a year in flux and the NFL has changed its IR rules
The 2020-only rules, which become effective after 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 6, will allow the team to remove any player with a football or non-football injury from the roster for three weeks. After three weeks, the player will be eligible to return to practice. Once he returns to practice, the team will have 21 days to place him back on the active roster.
I bring this up because the NY Jets have placed Le’veon Bell on IR. Using the new NFL rules, the Jets can return him to the active roster during week 5. Charles has placed Bell on his IR and picked up TE Dallas Goedert. When the Jets activate Bell, Charles has to drop one player to bring his roster back down to 15.
In prior NFL seasons placing a player on IR meant his season was virtually over, with Covid, those rules have been reduced to only 3 games.
To use the IR slot. If the NFL team has declared a player as going on “IR”. Submit a pickup request but don’t drop a player. When the player has been added, move the injured player to IR. Go to your Roster, and hit the Edit button next to the POS (Position). Now click on the injured player and you can drop him to the IR slot.
If you need help I can also perform this.
