Phil Hinman 143 VS Rick Markowski 126
High scoring win for the SEBFL.
Phil entered the playoffs looking to earn a spot in the championship game in the SEBFL but they also had an eye on the 2015 Challenge and tried to make sure the league didn’t lose two in a row. The team played at a high level at at all of the key positions with Big Ben scoring 32 in the air, Gurley and Freeman leading the ground attack and Jordan Reed, Jeffrey and Beckham catching. In fact every position on Phil’s team scored in double figures so this was a balanced team. Rick Markowski on the other hand had some big weapons come through for them in David Johnson with 43 and Tom Brady with 25, but other key players let the team down: B. Marshall, J. Landry and AJ Green combined for 15 points.
“We played a really good game today on all sides of the ball we made it to my champipnship game and gave the league another Challenge win, overall a very good week of football for me”, said the pumped Coach Hinman.
“We had a shot in this one, but the WRs and Gates barely scored 20 points and that doesn’t beat a very good Phil’s team. I let the team and league down with this loss, but like the old cliche, there is always next year”, said a dejected Coach Markowski.
The 2015 Challenge:
The Big Marko league (Rick Markowski) ended their 5 game slide in a big way with an easy win over Dwight in 2014, can the SEBFL prevent a two game slide? We continue with the yearly challenge between the SEBFL and Big Marko leagues. The overall record is 9-6 in favor fo SEBFL, thus our 16th year of the challenges between the two leagues will take place during week 15 of the NFL season. You can find the scoring results in the attached Excel file.
Predictions:
Phil by 1.
Both teams have been here before. Phil won the challenge three times while Rick has won twice. Rick is also looking for back to back wins. QBs; Big Ben VS Brady, both QBs should put up good points this week, Brady against the Titans could be in for a huge week. RBs: Freeman and Gurley VS Williams & David Johnson. Gurley put up two TDs last week when Phil had a bye, can he do it again when the game counts? Williams has taken over the RB job in Pittsburgh since Bell went down and hasn’t looked back. WRs: Beckham & Jeffrey VS Marshall & Green, Brandon left Chicago and has had a solid season in NY. Jeffrey took over for Marshall in Chicago and despite an injury-filled season he is looking to end the year on an up-note. I am biased, but Phil has won it three times so my guess is he can get the league another win.
